Mull Wildlife All Year Round:

No matter the season, there’s always something special to discover on the Isle of Mull. Nestled off the West Coast of Scotland, Mull is a treasure trove of natural beauty, boasting over 300 miles of coastline adorned with rugged cliffs and pristine sandy beaches. Feel the thrill as sea spray dances in the wind, whipped up by occasional gales that sweep through the islands.

But Mull isn’t just about its main island; we’ve got a string of smaller isles too, each with its unique history and charm. From the sacred shores of Iona to enchanting Inch Kenneth and beyond, these islands are a playground for both wildlife enthusiasts and history buffs alike. And let’s not forget the Treshnish Isles, a haven for birdlife and owned by the Hebridean Trust – a true gem for nature lovers.

Throughout Mull, you’ll encounter a mosaic of habitats, from lush broadleaf woodlands to expansive moorlands and shimmering lochs. Every turn offers a new spectacle: in spring and summer, wildflowers bloom and nesting birds fill the air with their calls, while autumn brings fiery colors and the haunting sounds of rutting deer. Even in winter, Mull shines with its stunning sunsets, starry nights, and the occasional dance of the Northern Lights.

What an amazing experience with Andrew, what he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing. We saw the beautiful Hen Harrier and rather grumpy wet juvenile Hen Harrier. A mother otter and her cub playing in the the loch and of course we got to see the Eagles, white and Golden. Can’t recommend this trip enough.

Our day out with Andrew was a fantastic experience, I highly recommend booking with him. He showed us some gorgeous wild places on the island, taught us how to spot lots of different kinds of wildlife and how to watch them responsibly. We saw white-tailed eagles, golden eagles, kestrels, hen harriers, buzzards (tourist eagles!), seals, dolphins, curlew, lots of herons. Andrew has a vast amount of knowledge and a keen eye for the local treasured wildlife. He also picked us up/dropped us off from Fishnish ferry terminal which was really helpful for us. An incredible journey through the landscapes and wildlife of Mull.”

“We had a really fantastic day with Andrew. Everything was easy to arrange by email, and he met us off the Ferry from Oban, returning us to the ferry at the end of the day. Andrew is very knowledgeable on all things to do with Mull, from wildlife to local history to the local economy. He doesn’t assume any previous knowledge and no question is a stupid question – we both really enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot. Andrew worked really hard and we were lucky enough to see golden eagles, white-tailed eagles, otters and lots of other wildlife. Take your own packed lunch, dress for the weather and you’ll have a fantastic time. Thanks again Andrew for a lovely day.”
